Data and analytics for investment firms

Investor-grade reporting, built to the standard banks are audited to.

Upside Analytics builds P&L, risk, portfolio and regulatory reporting for hedge funds, private equity firms and their portfolio companies — on Microsoft Fabric, Power BI and Power Apps, inside your own tenant, delivered by analysts named in the contract.

Who we work with

Three kinds of client. One delivery standard.

The reporting is different for each; the governance, the named people and the Microsoft stack are the same.

How the work is different

Finance first. Governed by default. Named people. Your tenant.

Finance first

We read the P&L before the schema. Our analysts come from market risk, liquidity, treasury and product control, not a generic BI practice.

Governed by default

Row- and object-level security, documented measures, version history and a walk-through from any number back to source.

Named people

The analyst on your account is written into the contract and stays. Continuity is the product; hours are the unit.

Your Microsoft tenant

Fabric, Power BI and Power Apps inside your perimeter. No new vendor, no data leaving, and Copilot arrives free once definitions are governed.

Selected work

Work we can describe, even where we cannot name the client.

All case studies

I spent seven years on the operating side of a private equity firm, building the reporting its portfolio companies ran on. Everything we do here is the version of that work I wish we had been able to buy.

Where a logo cannot be shown, the case study describes the institution by type and the work by outcome. We would rather be vague about the name than about the numbers.

Common questions

Things people ask before the first call.

Do you work outside the Microsoft stack?
By choice, no. We build on Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Power Apps and Dataverse, with Databricks and Cube where a client already runs them. If you are a Snowflake and Tableau shop we will say so on the first call and point you elsewhere.
Who actually does the work?
A named analyst or engineer from our Almaty team, written into the contract, with the founder as engagement lead from New York. Nobody is swapped in without your agreement.
Can you name your clients?
Some, with permission; others only by type. Our case studies describe the institution by type and the work by outcome, and the numbers marked in brackets are pending client sign-off.
Is Upside Analytics the publisher-analytics company?
No. Upside Analytics LLC (New York) is a data and analytics consultancy for investment firms. It is not affiliated with Upside Analytics Inc. of Portland, Maine, which serves local news publishers.
How do engagements start?
A 30-minute call with the founder about the report nobody trusts, followed by a short written note on what it would take to fix and whether we are the right firm to do it.

Bring the report nobody trusts. We will tell you what it would take to fix, and whether we are the right firm to do it.
